Mujeres con Poder is a women-led nonprofit initiative founded in 2020 that works to advance education, leadership, and community-led development for women and girls in Honduras and across Latin America, with a strong focus on Indigenous and Afro-descendant communities.
We believe education is one of the most powerful tools for social mobility, dignity, and long-term peace. Mujeres con Poder was shaped by lived experience and the conviction that access to education-especially in contexts of inequality – can transform individual lives and entire communities.
We work alongside communities, centring integrity, accountability, and cultural identity. We see women not as beneficiaries of change, but as leaders and architects of social transformation.
Today, Mujeres con Poder operates through structured programs focused on education access and digital inclusion, women’s leadership and economic empowerment, and cultural identity-centred peacebuilding. Our work prioritizes dignity, community partnership, and long-term impact.
Mujeres con Poder is a women-led nonprofit initiative dedicated to empowering women and girls through education, leadership development, economic opportunities, and community-building, with a strong focus on Indigenous and Afro-descendant communities.
Through strategic programs, advocacy, and partnerships, we work to reduce inequality, strengthen cultural identity, promote peacebuilding, and expand access to opportunities, enabling women to lead meaningful, self-determined lives and contribute to inclusive development.
A Latin America where women—especially Indigenous, Afro-descendant, and historically excluded women—are educated, economically empowered, culturally grounded, and influential, shaping policies, institutions, and communities with dignity and power.
Mujeres con Poder envisions a future where women are not only beneficiaries of change, but architects of social transformation.
We believe education is the most powerful tool for breaking cycles of inequality and unlocking long-term social change.
We center women who have been historically excluded—particularly Indigenous, Garífuna, Afro-descendant, and rural women—ensuring fairness, representation, and access.
We honor and preserve cultural heritage as a source of strength, leadership, and resilience—not something to be erased for progress.
We cultivate confident, ethical, and prepared women leaders who influence communities, institutions, and policy spaces.
We believe in collective power. Sustainable change happens when women grow together and support one another.
We operate with transparency, responsibility, and respect toward our communities, partners, and supporters.
We work alongside communities, listening first and building initiatives that respond to lived realities and local priorities.
We believe access to education is essential for dignity, opportunity, and sustainable peace, particularly for women and girls facing systemic exclusion.
Our work prioritizes Indigenous, Afro-descendant, and marginalized women, ensuring equity, representation, and culturally grounded solutions.
We operate with transparency, accountability, and a commitment to creating lasting change—not short-term interventions.
Born from a mother who studied by streetlight, Mujeres con Poder began in 2020 to bridge the digital divide when COVID-19 shut schools. We provide devices and connectivity so women and girls can access education, transforming inequality into opportunity through community-led, dignity-centred programs rooted in Honduras and expanding across Honduras.
